De Chinese keuken is een van de oudste en meest gevarieerde keukens ter wereld met een rijke geschiedenis en verschillende regionale smaken.

Er bestaan vier grote hoofdkeukens in China: de milde en frisse Shandong-keuken, de pittige en geurige Sichuan-keuken, de zoete en verfijnde Jiangsu-keuken en de lichte en verse Cantonese keuken. Elke regio heeft zijn eigen unieke ingrediënten en kookmethodes.

Populaire kooktechnieken zijn roerbakken, stomen, stoven, frituren en langzaam garen. De Chinese keuken hecht veel waarde aan kleur, geur, smaak en presentatie.

Bekende gerechten uit heel China zijn onder andere Pekingeend, garnalen met Longjing-thee, zoutwater-eend, Hunan roergebakken varkensvlees, visballetjes uit Fujian en traditionele hotpot.

Ook Chinese snacks zijn wereldwijd geliefd: garnalenknoedels, gestoomde broodjes, noedels en diverse gebakjes. Veel Chinese maaltijden zijn gezond, licht verteerbaar en goed uitgebalanceerd in voedingsstoffen.

Tegenwoordig vind je over de hele wereld Chinese restaurants, waardoor meer mensen kunnen genieten van de unieke en heerlijke Chinese gerechten.
